Working with templatesLet's have a look at some of the template options we have available to us in Canva. Starting out with templates is often the perfect introduction to Canva and graphic design for beginners.

Creating a social media graphic from a template
Let's create a social media graphic from an existing Canva template. We are looking to apply our design principles (consistent spacing, contrasting colours and short, snappy messaging) as we change the content to match our requirements.

Getting your graphics 'on-brand'
Now that we have completed a fully functional graphic in Canva, we can look to tie it into our existing corporate brand. Notice how we need to change our layout slightly when changing the font selection.

Working with pages
We can now work with pages (referred to as artboards in Adobe Illustrator for those who are moving across to Canva) and have a look at some of the tools and overlays that are available. We can also copy and resize documents to any orientation and ratio in next to no time.

Final touches: Create an image overlap effect.
Now that we have created our graphic, we can revisit it to add an extra layer of polish. This effect requires one or two little hacks, but the results are fantastic!
