22Session 10: Common Interview QuestionsVideo lesson
What if I tell you that you can be ready for almost any interview questions just by preparing for five of them?
In this session, we provide you with a list of the most important and common interview questions.
And to make your life easier, we have grouped them into five main questions. In fact, most questions you can expect at an interview are just a variation of those five primary questions. So, by focusing on them, you are covering almost every question you can expect at your interview.
This will literally save you hours of work, and make sure you are prepared to face all kinds of questions.
So, practice on these five main questions by using the cheat sheet we gave you in the previous session.
We will also give you examples of how to answer them.
Let me explain to you why you can answer the vast majority of interview questions just by preparing for five of them.
Most of the time, employers ask and recycle the same questions in their interviews. And that's because they tend to look for the same dimensions within a candidate. For example, teamwork is one of those main dimensions. And if you can answer the question, "How well do you work in a team?", you will also be able to answer the following questions:
"Do you like working with others?"
"Are you a good team player?"
"Tell me about a time you succeeded with your team?"
"Will you fit in our team?"
"Tell me of a time you disagreed with someone from your team."
Etcetera.
You can answer all these questions with just one experience in which you demonstrated interpersonal qualities. Then, you only need to tweak your story a little to adapt it to the question.
And that's good news for you! Because you can anticipate the most essential and common interview questions just by preparing for five of them! That's why we grouped them into five main categories. Each category is a dimension on which the interviewer will likely test you.
You will find these primary questions in virtually any interview, but with different wording.
These five primary dimensions are:
Can you do the job?
Can you work in a team?
Are you motivated?
Can you overcome challenges?
Do you have an entrepreneurial mindset?
You can expect most interview questions to revolve around these five dimensions. So, for each of them, prepare an answer with an example from your past experiences.
You can use the same experience as an example for different dimensions. Still, the narrative and what you want to highlight must be adapted to the particular dimension you are addressing. Your story should demonstrate that you have this dimension in you.
-
23Extra Session: Less Common Interview QuestionsVideo lesson
In this bonus session, we will give you a list of less common questions and show you how to answer them!
In the previous session, we went through the most crucial and frequent interview questions, which we have grouped into five main dimensions.
But some interview questions don't fit into any of those dimensions. They are more random, which makes them more challenging to answer.
The good news is this session will prepare you for them. You will know what to expect and how to answer them. So, this session completes the previous one, giving you the keys to answering even the least frequent and most challenging questions. And you are putting all the odds on your side!
Before going through the list, here is some advice regarding this kind of question:
First, try to avoid them as much as possible and keep talking about what you know and have prepared for the interview, which is yourself, the job, and the company. The best way to do it is to tease the interviewer with something you said about one of these elements. So remember to end your answers with an opening on one of the Big Three Y's. This way, the interviewer asks you about it, and you stay on familiar ground.
If you are asked a random or difficult question that is neither about yourself, the job, or the company, then answer the question, and still, try to bring it back to yourself, the job, and the company. Remember that you are not scoring points if you are not addressing these elements, so you need to try and find connections.
Finally, if you are asked personal questions, you can politely decline them. In fact, most personal questions are illegal in countries such as the US, the UK, or France. So if you are asked about religion, race, or family and don't feel comfortable answering the question, you can gently decline it by saying, "This is personal to me, and I would prefer talking about something else".
You have little chance to face such a question, but remember you have the right to decline it if it happens. Women may witness personal questions more often, especially around family life and children, but still, you can politely decline them.

24How to Negotiate your Salary?Video lesson
Hi there!
In today's video, we will see how to negotiate your salary.
We will share with you powerful techniques to master the art of salary negotiation... and get paid what you deserve.
In times of economic crisis, such as the one we are in right now, salary negotiation is much more difficult for candidates. They tend to negotiate less, and they have fewer options. They don't want to "risk it" by expecting too high salaries. They have seen the news, and they have seen tech companies laying off thousands of employees.
And companies know about this. So, they have a bigger negotiation power.
This can result in less flexibility in salary negotiations and a more conservative approach to compensation. Plus, there may be a larger pool of unemployed people, giving companies more "choices" and making it harder for candidates to secure the salary they want.
But it doesn’t have to be the case. Today more than ever, it is crucial to learn how to negotiate your salary. We'll teach you how to maximize your negotiation power and avoid putting yourself in a weak position.
We will also see why women tend to negotiate their salaries less than men, which increases the gender gap, and how to avoid this issue.
Note that if you have followed and applied the lessons from Interview Hero, you are already in an excellent position to negotiate a good salary. Indeed, by succeeding at your interviews, you have proved your worth to the employer, and reflected the value you will bring to the company.
Still, with the following negotiation methods, you will significantly increase your salary, and improve your living standards. It will also set a precedent for future salary increases and opportunities, and can provide you with a sense of achievement and professional growth.

In fact, for many interviewers, the way you look is important. It indicates that you value and respect the interview, which shows your motivation for the job and the company!
