In this lecture we will download WordPress and finalize the installation of WordPress on our local host with MAMP.

I added this as an alternative way to develop on WordPress on your local server. In this lecture, you will learn how to set up LocalWP to develop a WordPress website on your local server. Local is a great option as it is specifically made for WordPress, you don't have to create any databases like in MAMP and you also don't have to install WordPress. Local does it all for you.

In this lecture I will show you how to install WordPress on LocalWP so you can access your WordPress admin section to start developing your website.

In this lecture I will explain what a domain and web hosting is and how you can register your domain and set up a web hosting account for your website.

Although your don't need it immediately to create your website, you will eventually need both of these to have your website live on the internet.

In this lecture I will show you how to access your cPanel which can be done from your web hosting account section, or with a direct link. I will also show you how to install WordPress on your hosting account using cPanel.

I will also show you how to get your WordPress admin section / backend ready before we start developing. This means clearing all posts, comments, pages, unused themes and plugins and making sure your settings are correct.

In this lecture I will show you how to create some pages. We will start off by just creating a "Blog" page and a "Home" page with some content in and explore the different blocks / widgets that the standard WordPress theme and editor has to offer us.

In this lecture I will show you how you can set your "Home" page and your "Posts" page or blog page using two different methods. I will also show you how to create and add a menu, so you can navigate through your pages of your website.

In this lecture I will show you how to create a contact us page. I will use a different "slug" to page title to also show you the difference there, and add some social icons/buttons with links so you know how to create them and set them up.

In this lecture I will show you how you can add a simple contact form to your website. We will install a plugin for this contact form and then later on in the course I will show you three (3) different contact forms you can use.

In this lecture I will show you how you can customize your WordPress website using the standard customizer options you will get with the current WordPress theme and editor we have installed.

In this lecture we will go over the "Breadcrumb" and "Blog" options you will find when customizing your Astra WordPress Theme.

In this lecture I will show you how to customize your "Sidebar" with the Astra WordPress Theme. A sidebar is a very handy and very popular element on a website, blog site and online stores. I will also show you how you can display the sidebar only on certain elements of your site, so you can fully customize until you are completely satisfied with the design.

This will give you the ability to build a footer to your requirements and also remove the "Powered By WordPress" you get with the normal WordPress themes. You will be able to add widgets, use different levels of your footer and build an impressive little footer for your site on a desktop, tablet and mobile view as this is fully customizable using the Astra WordPress Theme.

In this lecture I will show you how you can add some additional pages now using the newly installed and customized Astra WordPress Theme.

I will also show you how to add some buttons, customize them and add links to them for internal navigation on your website or blog.

In this lecture I will show you an alternative contact form you can use on your website, WP Forms. This is a very popular contact form with a simple "drag and drop" builder so you can easily create your contact forms to your requirements.

Another very popular contact form with a simple "drag and drop" builder so you can easily create your contact forms to your requirements. This form also however allows you to keep track of your form submissions or entries, which is a nice functionality you can use to create a mailing list or build newsletter subscriptions.

In this lecture I will show you an alternative contact form you can use on your website, Bit Form. Although this form is not as popular as the other ones as yet, I believe it is a very powerful contact form builder. It gives you the user friendly drag and drop builder, it allows you to style your form to your requirements by using custom fonts, colors, backgrounds, shadows and much more. It also has the ability to give you a responsive view so you can make sure your form is designed to best suit desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

Apart from all of these great functionalities I already mentioned, it also allows you to keep track of your submissions or entries which you can also export to use as a mailing list or newsletter subscription list.

I will also explain some of the features a bit more so you have a better understanding of how you can use Elementor to your advantage.

In this lecture I will show you how we can use our Post created with Elementor and make a template of both a section and the full post to use as a sample or template to create further pages or posts.

In this extra lecture I will show you how you can import demo websites or starter templates to give you a little bit of a head start when building your WordPress website or blog. If you don't want to build your site from scratch, or you are not sure on how to design your site, this will help you to simply choose a site and design that you like and make it your own.
