A brief introduction to your instructor and Embodied Processing Practitioner, Sarah Cannata. Embodied processing is a bottom-up approach to working with trauma.

What is trauma? A quick Google search will reveal a variety of definitions of trauma. Sarah defines trauma for the purposes of this course. She touches on big 'T' trauma and little 'T' trauma and explains that all humans experience trauma on a spectrum.

In this lesson, Sarah explains how we end up feeling triggered in our everyday life and how our seemingly 'random' triggers may not actually be so random at all. They are undigested life experiences that loop on repeat because the body doesn't know the difference between the past and the present. She finishes by reiterating that given trauma is stored in the body, it must also be processed in the body.

Creating awareness around our traumas is one thing; processing it is another. Sarah explains how she uses resourcing (a practice of cultivating and building safety - watch the video for an expansion on this explanation) and embodied writing to help people work through their trauma.
