3Downloading and Installing PowerBIVideo lesson
Instructions on downloading PowerBI:
Powerbi.Microsoft.com
Click on Start free
Click on Learn about Power BI Desktop
Click on See Download Or Language Options
Select Language: English then click on Download
Choose the download operating system
PBIDesktopSetup_x64.exe (64bit) OR PBIDesktopSetup.exe (32bit)
See note for instructions on determining the (64bit vs 32bit) operating system
Click on Next
Run
Note: PBIDesktopSetup.exe(32bit) or PBIDesktopSetup_x64.exe(64bit)
The following steps to check and see if the operating system is a 32bit or 64bit laptop.
Click on the magnifying glass on the Start tab at the bottom of the laptop screen to search
Type in the box: System Information
On the System Summary Tab
In this example, the operating system is a 64bit

5The Report View Layout and Managing RelationshipVideo lesson
The report view has five main areas:
The Ribbon: display common tasks associated with reports and visualizations
Report View or Canvas: where visualizations are created and arranged
Data View: where you can add a measure, create new columns, and manage relationships within the data set.
Relationship View: graphical representation of the relationship that has been established in the data model
The pages tab: area along the bottom which lets you select or add a report
Visualizations Pane: where you can change visualization, customize color, or axes, apply filters, and or drag fields.
Field Pane: where query element and filters can be dragged onto the report view or dragged to the filters area of the Visualizations pane
Relationship:
Many to One: column in one table can have more than one instance of a value
One-to-One: A column in one table has only one instance of a particular
Many-to-Many: between tables, which removes the requirement for unique vale in a tables

In the Query Editor:
Query Settings Pane: All the steps associated with a query are displayed. Each step is shown in the order it is carried out in.

Query Editor: Rename columns or tables, change the text to numbers, remove rows, and deleting a column
Example: Adding in the Source-Excel/SQL, add a column, remove a column, and then change the name of the column.

Here how Query Editor appears once a data connection is established:
The ribbon: display common tasks associated with the report
The left pane: queries are listed and available for selection, viewing, and shaping
The center pane: data from the selected query is displayed and available for shaping
Query Settings: where all steps associated with a query are displayed- window appears, listing the query’s properties and applied steps

The ribbon in Query Editor consists of four tabs: Home, Transform, Add Column, and View
Transform Tab:
The transform tab provides access to common data transformation tasks, such as adding or removing columns, changing data types, splitting columns, and other data-driven tasks.
Add Column:
Provide additional tasks associated with adding a column, formatting column data, and adding custom columns.
View Tab:
The ribbon is used to toggle whether certain panes or windows are displayed. It’s also used to display the Advanced Editor.

To connect the data---select Home---Get Data
Excel-Sunlight Data pdf
Show a summary of the data based on the first 200 rows
Load
After Importing the data----it will show an error regarding the data
“1 of the loaded queries contained errors” 2,605 rows loaded. 215 errors.
Close-we will address this error late on in the workshop
We are now ready to shape our data within the REPORT VIEW and QUERY EDITOR
