What is day trading?

Day trading or intraday trading is buying and selling of securities on the same day.

Benefits of intraday trading:

No worry about overnight news

Great leverage

Can be traded on rising or falling markets

Less chances of stop-loss slippages etc.

Trading psychology is nothing but the mental state of a trader that interferes the trading decisions while trading.

Trading emotion is the number one enemy of a trader. If a trader could not get over the trading emotion, he/she won't be able to make money doing trading.

Momentum is what every day trader looks for. The stocks which trade sideways are useless.

Momentum means the stocks which are moving. It may on the bullish side or bearish side; it must be moving. In momentum trading strategy the biggest challenge is to find the moving stocks. Once you find out the stock it becomes easy for you to trade.

Gap strategy in bullish side has two strategies: Bullish gap & go and bullish retest go. Gap & go strategy is applied when previous day candle is a bearish one and on the other hand, gap retest is adopted when earlier day candle is a bullish one.

This is a live trade video where I have shown you how to use stock scanner for intraday trading. I have also shown how to enter into a trade and exit taking profit.

Unlike bullish gap strategy, bearish gap has two strategies: Bearish gap & go and bearish retest go. Gap & go strategy is applied when previous day candle is a bullish one and on the other hand, gap retest strategy is adopted if earlier day candle is a bearish one.

Opening range breakout is very popularly known as ORB strategy and it is one of the best strategy opted by the new traders due to its simplicity. As the market opens, we allow the stock to form a trading range first and when the range is broken with great volume, trade is initiated.

It is a live trade example on intraday trading. How to use stock screener, making a trade and exit from the trade on a live market is explained beautifully in this video.

Price moving average crossover strategy is adopted when price of any security crosses over the price. If the price crosses above the average price, long trade is executed. On the other hand, when price crosses below the average price, short trade should be initiated.

In moving average crossover strategy, two moving averages are used: one longer period and other is shorter period. In itraday trading 20-period simple moving average (SMA) and 5-period exponential moving average (EMA) work well. Trade is initiated when 5-EMA crosses above and below the 20-SMA.

Moving average convergence divergence (MACD) is very much similar to moving average crossover strategy. In MACD indicator strategy, if both the averages are above the base line, the security is said to be in bullish trend and when they are below base line, it is in bearish trend. And when MACD crosses over signal line it gives buy signal and if MACD crosses below signal line sell signal is generated.

Volume-weighted average price (VWAP) is an important tool that traders use to gauge whether a stock was bought or sold at a good price. It indicates the fair value of a security. The VWAP trading strategy is similar to price moving average cross-over strategy.

Supertrend indicator is one of the most common and simplest trading indicator to use in any style of trading. Two trading strategies can be formulated using supertrend indicator viz. supertrend reversal and supertrend pullback strategy.

Pullback is nothing but consolidation, correction or retracement phase of a security. A stock or index never moves in a straight path. It moves for a while, breathes for sometime and then proceeds again. So, in pullback strategy trade is created as soon as the consolidation phase is over. This strategy can be adopted in intraday trading, swing trading or momentum trading also.

This is a pullback strategy live trade. The trade was taken on HDFCLIFE. The stock dropped first and then retraced upto the level of supertrend and fall again. The short position was created as soon as it broke the day low.

Pullback trading is one of the best intraday trading strategy.

"Trend is your friend" is a common phrase among the traders fraternity. We must trade along the trend that means if market is bullish we should create long position and in bearish market we should initiate short positions. But in reversal strategy we need to make contra positions. There are two reversal strategies: bullish reversal and bearish reversal.

In this class I have shown how to take reversal trade on a live market and make huge profit intraday?

Flag pattern is trend continuation pattern. It may form in bullish trend as well as bearish trend also. Bull flag pattern is bullish trend continuation candlestick pattern whereas bear flag pattern is bearish trend continuation candlestick pattern.

Bull flag strategy is my favourite trading strategy among the candlestick pattern based trading. This trade is taken on ESCORTS on 15 min chart. Here, how the stock come to the stock screener and how the trade was executed is shown using Bull flag strategy.

Triangle candlestick pattern is one of the reliable trading strategy in intraday trading. There are three types of triangle candlestick pattern available viz. ascending triangle candlestick pattern, descinding triangle candlestick pattern and symmetrical triangle candlestick pattern. All the three types are explained in this class.
